Welcome to our Federation website!
Hob Moor is a unique and successful community of learners in a Federation between a mainstream primary and a primary special school. Both schools were judged to be ‘good’ schools by Ofsted in December 2013 and are extremely popular. We strive for excellence in everything we do and encourage and support children to be the best that they can be.
Our vision is simply ‘Life changing learning for every child’.
You may perhaps wonder what we mean by ‘Federation?’
The Federation brought together Hob Moor Oaks School and Hob Moor Community Primary School into one purpose built, integrated Children’s Centre here in the Acomb area of York. The Children’s Centre opened in 2006 with the two schools and “The House” sharing the site.
We have the advantage of ‘co-location’- shared facilities and collaborative learning opportunities for children in both schools. The classrooms for both schools share the same corridors. We are able to share best practice and expertise across both schools and aim to provide highly inclusive learning opportunities for every child. Our learning community ‘glue’ that sticks us all together is our Restorative Practice and our drive for excellence.
Please visit us to see how we make this all happen in practice!
If you are lucky enough to visit us in person, you will be blown away by our learners and by the quality of our learning facilities and resources. Hob Moor is fully accessible and welcomes everybody. All visitors comment on our warm and welcoming ethos, as well as our calm and purposeful learning community.
The staff team works in close partnership with families, the Governing Body and a wide of range of professionals and organisations to bring out the best in each child. Hob Moor provides the ideal setting for children to develop as learners, as individuals and as members of our Federation, its local community and the larger community of York.
I hope that our prospectus and website gives you a picture of the life of our Federation community. Please come and see the schools at work and discover this special place for yourself …
